The Timeless Elegance of White Tie
This white marcella pique bow tie perfectly complements any kind of evening tailcoat and single or double-breasted evening waistcoats and vests, and should be worn with a detachable wing collar.
The butterfly-style bow of this bow tie is designed to complement most face shapes and, along with the single-ended bow tie, is the traditional choice for a White Tie bow tie.
A white bow tie is an essential component of White Tie, but do not forget other fine details! Be sure to include a crisp white linen pocket square and a refreshing boutonniere as well: traditionally, gentlemen wore a rose or carnation with evening ensembles.

White Tie Etiquette
A gorgeous white bow tie gives its name to, and is a defining feature of, the White Tie Dress Code, the single most dignified, refined, and formal dress code in menswear. With a formal tailcoat, a white formal bow tie is one of the critical accessories for a glorious full-fig evening outfit.
Because the White Tie dress code is the most formal evening dress code, each of its elements and accessories expresses the epitome of refinement and class. This White Tie bow tie can be worn with any White Tie ensemble and should, in most circumstances, be worn only with White Tie.
While White Tie is the most formal dress code, your bow tie allows for a little touch of personality, such as variation in the breadth of the bows, the tightness or looseness of the knot, and how high it sits upon your neck. The result is a bow tie that is definitively styled your way and that will fit your individual look.
Marcella Pique: The King of Cotton Weaves
Marcella piqué cotton is a woven fabric typically characterized by a geometric pattern with a raised, waffle-like texture. This material is often used in formal evening attire for the bibs of dress shirts and neckwear.
Fort Belvedere has sourced our marcella pique from a heritage Italian mill, allowing us to craft products with only the finest hallmarks of quality construction.
Fabricated using premium cotton yarns, marcella pique is known for its exceptional durability. The double-knit construction enhances the fabric’s robustness, ensuring that garments maintain their shape and structure over time.
Marcella pique boasts a distinctive, raised waffle-like texture that adds a touch of elegance and sophistication to clothing. This textured pattern not only contributes to the aesthetic appeal but also adds subtle detailing without the need for additional ornamentation.
Marcella pique resists wrinkling and is relatively easy to care for compared to other fine textiles. It retains its crisp appearance without the need for frequent ironing.
Care
Cleaning
Cotton mercella pique neckwear should not be washed immersed in water as doing so can ruin the texture and color of the fabric. Instead, spot clean your neckwear using the following steps.
Gently blot any excess stain with a soft, dry cloth. Do not rub as this can mar the fabric.
Fill a small bowl with lukewarm water and add a few drops of mild detergent specifically designed for delicate fabrics.
Dip a corner of a clean, white cloth into the solution and test it on a hidden area of the tie to ensure it doesn’t cause discoloration.
If the test is successful, lightly dab the stained area with the dampened cloth. Use a gentle tapping motion and do not saturate the cotton.
Moisten another clean cloth with plain lukewarm water and gently dab the area to remove any soap residue.
Pat the cleaned area with a dry cloth to absorb moisture, then leave the neckwear laid flat on a towel to air dry completely.
If the stain does not respond to the these steps, take the neckwear to a professional dry cleaner experienced in handling delicate accessories.
Storage
To prevent heavy creasing, never store your neckwear tied or knotted.
Undo the knot and then roll the necktie up in a firm but not excessively tight coil.
Allow it to sit in the coil for about a day to relax wrinkles.
To prevent wrinkles, store your silk neckwear hanging, flat, or in a very loose roll.
Sized for You
Your Fort Belvedere formal evening bow tie is individually sized, ensuring that no clunky fastening system or adjustable slides mar the elegant appearance of your neckwear.
Please note that your shirt collar size MAY NOT necessarily match your bow tie size. It is critical that you actually measure to find the proper length.
To measure your neck, we recommend having help from a friend. Wearing your evening shirt, with a soft measuring tape, measure from the shank of the button to the outside of the buttonhole of the shirt collar to get the size of the shirt right. This measurement will correspond to your bow tie size.
If you are in-between sizes, choose the next size up if you like a big knot or down if you like a small know.
If your shirt collar is quite a bit bigger than your neck, choose the next larger size.
